We thought so much of Nell and Doug as we got o know them from our bank trips. We enjoyed both your parents and their love of travel and life. We send our deepest condolences.

Dear Doug and family, I'm sorry to learn of your mother's passing. I respect her from simply knowing you as good people. May happy memories and good times continue for you all.

Dear Doug, Mike, Chris and Maria, Your Mother, as well as your Father, were special to me. I have often thought of each of you and the wonderful moments spent together - many with music or enjoying the time together. Your Mother had a zest for life and that infectious and she was a joy. I graduated from Carl Sandburg College ADN program in 1986.Nellie was my psych clinical instructor. Her compassion and wisdom made her a very special instructor. Thirty-six years later,I am still working in my chosen field of mental health and I feel priviledged to have known her. She was one of a kind and will be missed, but will live on in all our special memories. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

To Nellie's family, So sorry for your loss. Not only was Nellie a great nursing instructor she became our friend. My friends and I so enjoyed being with Nellie and hearing about her family. You are in my prayers and know that Nellie will be missed.

We have loved your friendship and our times together at the dining room table. Nothing was better than when we would discuss the books we were reading or when you would tell us of your work and travels. We learned much from you, Nellie. And thank you for your caring and understanding of Mary. We feel joy in our hearts knowing that you are once again with your beloved husband.

Our deepest sympathy to each of you in the loss of your Mother. We always enjoyed your parents coming into the dental office while living in Monmouth.

To the family of Nellie Spitz, With deepest sympathy and respect during this time of your loss. Mrs. Spitz was my Nursing instructor at Carl Sandburg College many years ago. She made it fun and I will always remember her smile. Even today in my career as a nurse I can hear her voice and what she taught me. I will always have the fondest of memories of her.

Dear Doug, Mike, Chris and Maria (and all your families), We were so very sad to hear that your mother, my Aunt Nell, is no longer with us. She was truly one of the best people I have ever known, so passionate about what she loved or believed in, so committed to right and to opposing wrong, so unafraid to care strongly, and so loving and proud of all of you. My life is enriched for having had her as my Aunt (and your father as my uncle), and even though we saw little of each other in their later years, my affection for them and appreciation for the tremendous people they were, only grew with time. I am very sorry that I won't be able to make it to the funeral from Norway - but we WILL be thinking of you all, and wishing we were there. Matt and family will just have arrived in Norway on the 29th and we will be celebrating Nell over here in our own way on the 29th & 30th. It was a truly rich and meaningful life, and we will always hold our Aunt Nell fondly in our memory. Sandy and I wwere sorry to learn of Nel's death. She wass there for me during a time when I needed it in Monmouth. What a wonderful loving family she had andthe great comfort and love you gave her.
