Iowa City

Verna B. Leme, 91, of Melrose Meadows in Iowa City went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Mercy Hospital following a short illness.

Verna was born June 5, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan to Chester and Daisy Grant Ingalsbe. She was united in marriage to Alex Leme on June 6, 1942. They lived in Detroit while Al was employed as a Firefighter and then retired to Salem, Virginia. She came to Iowa City in 2005.

She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, PTA member, and was always active in a variety of church activities. She had a great love for travel. She enjoyed dancing and was an avid line dance enthusiast.

Survivors are her daughter, Sally Leme, of Iowa City and her son, Alan Leme, of Manchester Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Wayne, her sister Donna Hartman and her sister Dorothy Bouford.

Verna was a loving wife, mother and friend.
