Maryellen, I am so very sorry to learn of your loss! By all that's right and proper, our children should outlive us, but that is not always meant to be, is it? My sincere condolences to you and the rest of your family who are already missing her a great deal, I know. "To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die."

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I meet Penny when I started working at Pearson (NCS) in the 90s and we instantly became friends. We lived together for two year and I rode my first Ragbrai with her. Good times. When I moved away to Florida I lost touch with her. Now that I have returned I'm saddened that Penny and I were not able to spend time together. She was a great friend and will always be remembered.

My thoughts and prayers are with Penny's family. Penny and I were hired at NCS the same year and shortly after, we were both taking a writing class at the U of Iowa. I got to know Penny while we were in class and then later I would see her occasionally in the hall. She was a kind person and although we never worked together, I will always remember her friendly smile. May God welcome Penny into his kingdom and his love comfort your family.

My heart deeply feels your loss of Penny. I have more memories of her than you can imagine from our Jr. high and high school years. I have always been amazed that she had knitted an entire pant suit rather than sew an outfit for the school style show. We would talk on the phone for hours, share our deepest thoughts, dreams, and wishes. We would ride bikes together, take long exploring walks, swim at the country club, and enjoyed the simple times together that a friendship had to offer. I will always cherish theses memories of her.

I am sad for your loss, and my deepest sympathies go out to all of Penny's family. I worked with Penny at Pearson and got to know how much she cared about her family. She spoke highly of you and was very proud of you. I will also think of her when I eat a fine piece of chocolate--she liked just a small piece of good chocolate a day. She was a hard worker, had a wonderful dry sense of humor, and she will be missed.

I had the unique opportunity to work with Penny Cazanas. I enjoyed the time we spent discussing work and other topics. Penny was remarkable in that she was smart and interesting, yet humble and thoughtful at the same time. My life is better for knowing her, and I will miss our conversations and our casual hellos in the hallway. May your spirit find your way home, good friend; you will be missed.
